If you’ve been thinking about asking for a pay rise for a while, but don’t seem to be able to find the courage to actually do it, it could be because you doubt whether you actually deserve one. Here are a few great reasons to boost your confidence and remind you why you deserve a pay rise:
1. You’ve Been at the Company a Long Time
If you’ve been working at the same company for several years, and have yet to be given a pay rise, it’s high time you asked for one. Some companies will decide not to give their employees just because they feel they can get away with it, but if you outright ask them about it, they won’t be able to say no.
2. You’re a Hard Worker
If you work hard every day when you’re at work, you’re probably leaps and bounds ahead of your co-workers! Working hard is one of the greatest attributes of any employee, and is something you should be recognised and rewarded for.
3. You Always Get Your Work Done Ahead of Time
Many employees hand their assignments in late, or only just get them done in the nick of time. If you’re one of the few that always manages to get their work done ahead of time, you’re definitely in line for a pay rise – but only if your boss realises! Keep a record of your assignments and how often you hand them in early as proof you’re very efficient at your job.
4. You’re Loyal
Loyalty is a valuable trait in today’s economy, with many people jumping ship at the first sign of a better opportunity. Remaining loyal to your company shows you care about your job and the people you work with.
5. You’re Punctual
If you’re always on time to work, or even better if you arrive early regularly, this is something that won’t go unnoticed. Arriving early means you have chance to get a headstart on your work, once again proving you’re a hard worker and adding to your ability to get things done ahead of time!
6. You Love Your Job
Enthusiasm and a passion for the job never go unnoticed, and you’re even more likely to be doing a good job if you love what you do. Don’t be afraid to shout about how much you love your work, as your boss will appreciate the gesture and wish for more employees like you.
7. You’re Positive
Positivity can be a rare trait in many offices, so if you’re the shining light in the office, people will naturally warm to you. And when people like you, they want to help you, and you’ll find opportunities freely come your way.
8. You’re Excellent at Your Job
Of course, the main reason anyone deserves a pay rise is that they’re excellent at their job. If you’re excellent at yours, you shouldn’t be afraid to ask for a pay rise. You never know, it may even come with a promotion!
